Hi, Welcome To My Blog!

We lose ourselves in books, we find ourselves there too.

God made the horse from the breath of the wind, the beauty of the earth, and the soul of an angel.

Favorite Books (updated)

I could never choose my favorite book, because almost all of the books I have read are my favorite.  A few extremely good books I have read are:

- The Inheritance Cycle by Chirstopher Paolini
  Eragon
  Eldest
  Brisingr
  Inheritance
A few characters in these books are Eragon, Saphira, Ayra, Roran, and Murtagh.

- The Rangers Apprentice Series by John Flanagan
  The Ruins of Gorlan
  The Burning Bridge
  The Icebound Land
  The Battle for Skandia
  The Sorcerer of the North
  The Siege of Macindaw
  Erak's Ransom
  The Kings of Clonmel
  Halt's Peril
  The Emperor of Nihon-Ja
  The Lost Stories
If you want to read them in order from time sequence, read Erak's Ransom before The Sorcerer of the North.
A few characters are Will, Gilan, Horace, and Halt.

- The Dragon of Trelian by Michelle Knudsen
The will be a sequel to this book called the Princess of Trelian. Another will come after that too.
A few characters are Calen, Meg, and Jakl.

 - The Seventh Tower Series by Garth Nix
  The Fall
  The Castle
  Aenir
  Above the Veil
  Into Battle
  The Violet Keystone
A few characters are Tal, Mila, Adras, and Odris.

- The Underland Chronicles by Suzanne Collins
   Gregor the Overlander
Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane
Gregor and the Curse of the Warmbloods
Gregor and the Marks of Secret
Gregor and the Code of Claw
A few characters are Gregor, Luxa, Boots, Ares, Aurora, and Ripred.
Suzanne Collins also wrote the Hunger Games series. (they are very good too)

- The Dark is Rising Series by Susan Cooper
Over the Sea, Under the Stone
   The Dark is Rising
   Greenwitch
   The Grey King
   Silver on the Tree
Some characters are Will, Jane, Barney, Simon, and Merriman.

- Maximum Ride Series by James Patterson
  The Angle Experiment
  Schools Out -- Forever
  The Final Warning
Saving The World And Other Extreme Sports
  Max: A Maximum Ride Novel
  Fang: A Maximum Ride Novel
  Angle: A Maximum Ride Novel
Nevermore: A Maximum Ride Novel (comes out August 6, 2012)
Some characters are Max, Fang, Iggy, Nudge, the Gasman(Gazzy), and Angel.
These books are also hilarious.

-The Man Who Listens To Horses - Monty Roberts
This is an autobiography of Monty Roberts life. This is an extremely good book and I suggest reading it. Not just because it has horses in it, but because of what he lived through and did. This book proves it's possible for one person to make a difference.

I love all these books/series and there are many more I have read and love. I would totally recommend you read them.

The Easy Button

Have you ever seen those Staples Easy Button commercials?
Have you ever wished you could use the easy button? Several times I have wanted to use that button.
Just last week I wished I had that button. We had to write a poem about Earth's atmospheric layers. It had to have at least 24 lines, rhyme, and describe the layers of the atmosphere. It's not easy to find things that rhyme with 'atmosphere' and 'troposphere' that make sense  and will work with the information I needed to put in it. It took me a long time to write it. I ended up using 'here' and 'near' mostly. It kind of got repetitive, but it worked.

The Next Leap Year

Our next leap year will be in 2016 on a Monday. So here are a few
things I might be doing that day.

  • I will probably be in school since it's on a Monday.

  • It will be my senior year.
  • I will be picking colleges and applying for scholarships. (Like my sister is doing now.)

  • I will be helping to plan for my graduation party.

  • I will probably start practicing on the horse I am riding then, for the upcoming horse shows.

Cash (and Smokey)
Smokey
Harry

So there is some things I might be doing that day. =)

Is Bowling A Sport?

There has been an appeal to make bowling a sanctioned sport. I don't bowl much, but I consider bowling a sport. To me sports are an activity that can provide entertainment and are usually competitive. I think bowling should become a sanctioned sport.

Computer Chipped Brain?

Ok so my blogging assignment is:

It has been reported that by the time we get to iPhone 12s that you will get a computer chip implanted in your brain so that you can receive texts, listen to music and search Google from the comfort of your head?
Would you want the iphone to be implanted in your head and what 3 apps would you put on it even if you decide not to implant it.

Here is my answer:

I definitely do not want a computer chip in my head. My number one reason is that someone would eventually find out how to hack the chip or put a virus on it. Then they would be in control of me or could read my thoughts. Another reason is people could call or text me in my sleep and wake me up. Although listening music would be fun. But my answer is still no thanks to the chip. The three apps I would choose are Pandora (music), Touch Physics (game), and an app where I could get books and read them.

So No, I do not want a chip in my brain. What would you choose and why? Comment and tell me your answers.

The Homosassa River in Florida

I have been to the Homosassa River twice now. Which is located near Homosassa Springs, Florida. Both times we snorkeled with the manatees that come up the river. I love going there and would love to go back there again. you can get manatee tours and can swim with the manatees. Manatees are very large, but they are also very sweet, curious, and harmless. They are very friendly and will come close so you can pet them.

Facts
  • The river is very clear and stays about 72 degrees fahrenheit.
  • Homosassa Springs got its name from the Homosassa river.
  • Going in the fall and winter months of October through April is the best time because are lots more manatees. During the warmer months the manatees are in the ocean, but when the ocean becomes cold they go up the warm rivers.
  • They are the West Indian Manatee. They are usually grayish in color and an average adult grows to about 9.8ft long and weighs about 800 - 1200lb. But they can grow to 13ft and weigh over 3000lb. They live about 60 years old.
  • Manatees have very keen hearing, but when they are sleeping they are often hit by boats that are going too fast. You will usually see scars on the manatees where they have been hit.

I love swimming with manatees because they are amazing animals and very friendly. I recommend that you go to the Homosassa River to swim with manatees. (The Crystal River is not good.) A few weeks ago we went to Florida and swam with the manatees for a vacation. They are amazing animals.
