Hi, Welcome To My Blog!

We lose ourselves in books, we find ourselves there too.

God made the horse from the breath of the wind, the beauty of the earth, and the soul of an angel.

Graduation Parties

My sister's graduation party is coming tomorrow so we've been getting ready, buying decorations, and making food this week (and you can add last week too). My sister originally started with a pink and green theme, but it turned into a pink and green beach theme when we found a ton of pink and green beach stuff at the dollar tree. I did not know how it was possible to spend 80 some dollars at the dollar tree, but we did. (Dad only thinks we spent half of that, so shhh. (=  ) We bought a LOT of stuff but it looks really cool.
I've been helping my grandma with a lot of the food making. Yummy. My cousins from Denver arrived yesterday.  I haven't seen them in four years so that was really fun. Her party is going to be at a new horse barn that was built. The owners have a kind of house thing with it that you can rent for graduation parties. Its kind of hard to find the place though because its behind a row of trees. My mom and dad rented a bouncy house for the little kids.
A few of my cousins and me have hatched a surprise for my sister. It involves a song that we all sang when we were camping and stuff.  It will be fun to see what happens. Some of the adults will probably think we're a little crazy. =)   I can't wait until my sister's graduation party, it will be a lot of fun.

A Blank Check

http://www.sageapple.org/donate.html
If I were given a blank check to spend on five things that would improve our school, I would

- Make Our School Lunches Better (because they taste terrible.)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:USDA_Food_Pyramid.gif
- Get Better Air Conditioners And Furnaces (because they never work when their supposed to and you end up freezing in the winter and roasting in the summer)

- Fix Water Fountains (they have no water pressure so you cant drink out of them)

- Improve The Computers And Update Microsoft (because our computers are really slow, I forgot exactly why their slow; and our Microsoft powerpoint, documents, etc. needs updated so they have the better and improved things.)

http://treerootandtwig.com/2012/04/22/
book-review-scorpio-races-maggie-stiefvater/
- Add A Lot More Fiction Books To The Library (we used to have a ton of books, now we hardly have any)

Those are a few things I would spend the money on. What if you had a blank check? What would you spend it on to improve your school?

Golden Retrievers

http://www.funnyfunnypictures.net/golden-retriever-pics-865.htm
If I could be a dog, I would want to be a golden retriever.

  • Golden Retrievers are:
  • Friendly and fun
  • Lively and energetic
  • Loyal and obedient
  • Easily trained
  • Eager to please
They also love challenges and tasks and they learn quickly, which is like me. I also want to please my parents and teachers. I think if I were a dog I would be a golden retriever. We currently have two part golden retrievers (Jet and Dolly). And we used to have a pure golden retriever called Coven. I love golden retrievers. They are my absolute favorite breed of dog. I think I would be a good golden retriever.

You can go to this website for some more on golden retrievers. (Of course there are more websites with more information on retrievers, but this one is a nice short and sweet summary.)

A Horrible Smell

Our blogging assignment is to describe a strong memory based upon a smell. This smell has been stuck in my head for forever because it was so bad.
This is just a random barn. Attribution -
 http://www.hiddenhillshorsefarm.com/Horse-boarding-md-facilities.html
We were going to our trainer to get horse riding lessons. (We don't go to this trainer anymore.) She works in some really rich people's barn and trains their kids. Anyways, as we enter the barn connected to the riding arena, this horrible smell rolls over us. My eyes and nose burned until I got used to it. Part of the cause for the smell was what they were feeding their horses, the large number of horses they had, and they had to keep the doors shut because it was cold out. They could also have probably cleaned the stalls a little more often everyday.
The trainer we go to now has a very large, nice, and clean barn.

6 Legged Calf

On tween tribune there is an article about a baby calf that was born with six legs. It can only walk on four though.

The article about it is at...
http://tweentribune.com/content/cow-has-six-legs-walks-four

It's amazing that the little guy lived. I think the calf is still kind of cute the way it is, but it would have been a lot cuter if it hadn't been born with the extra legs. I feel sorry for the little calf. She can't help that she was born with two extra legs and she will never be a normal cow. Her name is Lilli. I hope she has a happy life.

Favorite Books (updated)

I could never choose my favorite book, because almost all of the books I have read are my favorite.  A few extremely good books I have read are:

- The Inheritance Cycle by Chirstopher Paolini
  Eragon
  Eldest
  Brisingr
  Inheritance
A few characters in these books are Eragon, Saphira, Ayra, Roran, and Murtagh.

- The Rangers Apprentice Series by John Flanagan
  The Ruins of Gorlan
  The Burning Bridge
  The Icebound Land
  The Battle for Skandia
  The Sorcerer of the North
  The Siege of Macindaw
  Erak's Ransom
  The Kings of Clonmel
  Halt's Peril
  The Emperor of Nihon-Ja
  The Lost Stories
If you want to read them in order from time sequence, read Erak's Ransom before The Sorcerer of the North.
A few characters are Will, Gilan, Horace, and Halt.

- The Dragon of Trelian by Michelle Knudsen
The will be a sequel to this book called the Princess of Trelian. Another will come after that too.
A few characters are Calen, Meg, and Jakl.

 - The Seventh Tower Series by Garth Nix
  The Fall
  The Castle
  Aenir

- The Underland Chronicles by Suzanne Collins
   Gregor the Overlander
Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane
Gregor and the Curse of the Warmbloods
Gregor and the Marks of Secret
Gregor and the Code of Claw
A few characters are Gregor, Luxa, Boots, Ares, Aurora, and Ripred.
Suzanne Collins also wrote the Hunger Games series. (they are very good too)

- The Dark is Rising Series by Susan Cooper
Over the Sea, Under the Stone
   The Dark is Rising
   Greenwitch
   The Grey King
   Silver on the Tree
Some characters are Will, Jane, Barney, Simon, and Merriman.

- Maximum Ride Series by James Patterson
  The Angle Experiment
  Schools Out -- Forever
  The Final Warning
Saving The World And Other Extreme Sports
  Max: A Maximum Ride Novel
  Fang: A Maximum Ride Novel
  Angle: A Maximum Ride Novel
Nevermore: A Maximum Ride Novel (comes out August 6, 2012)
Some characters are Max, Fang, Iggy, Nudge, the Gasman(Gazzy), and Angel.
These books are also hilarious.

-The Man Who Listens To Horses - Monty Roberts
This is an autobiography of Monty Roberts life. This is an extremely good book and I suggest reading it. Not just because it has horses in it, but because of what he lived through and did. This book proves it's possible for one person to make a difference.

I love all these books/series and there are many more I have read and love. I would totally recommend you read them.

The Easy Button

Have you ever seen those Staples Easy Button commercials?
Have you ever wished you could use the easy button? Several times I have wanted to use that button.
Just last week I wished I had that button. We had to write a poem about Earth's atmospheric layers. It had to have at least 24 lines, rhyme, and describe the layers of the atmosphere. It's not easy to find things that rhyme with 'atmosphere' and 'troposphere' that make sense  and will work with the information I needed to put in it. It took me a long time to write it. I ended up using 'here' and 'near' mostly. It kind of got repetitive, but it worked.

Is Bowling A Sport?

There has been an appeal to make bowling a sanctioned sport. I don't bowl much, but I consider bowling a sport. To me sports are an activity that can provide entertainment and are usually competitive. I think bowling should become a sanctioned sport.

Computer Chipped Brain?

Ok so my blogging assignment is:

It has been reported that by the time we get to iPhone 12s that you will get a computer chip implanted in your brain so that you can receive texts, listen to music and search Google from the comfort of your head?
Would you want the iphone to be implanted in your head and what 3 apps would you put on it even if you decide not to implant it.

Here is my answer:

I definitely do not want a computer chip in my head. My number one reason is that someone would eventually find out how to hack the chip or put a virus on it. Then they would be in control of me or could read my thoughts. Another reason is people could call or text me in my sleep and wake me up. Although listening music would be fun. But my answer is still no thanks to the chip. The three apps I would choose are Pandora (music), Touch Physics (game), and an app where I could get books and read them.

So No, I do not want a chip in my brain. What would you choose and why? Comment and tell me your answers.

The Homosassa River in Florida

I have been to the Homosassa River twice now. Which is located near Homosassa Springs, Florida. Both times we snorkeled with the manatees that come up the river. I love going there and would love to go back there again. you can get manatee tours and can swim with the manatees. Manatees are very large, but they are also very sweet, curious, and harmless. They are very friendly and will come close so you can pet them.

Facts
  • The river is very clear and stays about 72 degrees fahrenheit.
  • Homosassa Springs got its name from the Homosassa river.
  • Going in the fall and winter months of October through April is the best time because are lots more manatees. During the warmer months the manatees are in the ocean, but when the ocean becomes cold they go up the warm rivers.
  • They are the West Indian Manatee. They are usually grayish in color and an average adult grows to about 9.8ft long and weighs about 800 - 1200lb. But they can grow to 13ft and weigh over 3000lb. They live about 60 years old.
  • Manatees have very keen hearing, but when they are sleeping they are often hit by boats that are going too fast. You will usually see scars on the manatees where they have been hit.

I love swimming with manatees because they are amazing animals and very friendly. I recommend that you go to the Homosassa River to swim with manatees. (The Crystal River is not good.) A few weeks ago we went to Florida and swam with the manatees for a vacation. They are amazing animals.

5 People I Would Like To Meet

Here are 5 people I would like to meet or be friends with.

  • Christopher Paolini - Because he is a great author and I loved the Inheritance Cycle.

  • James Patterson - Another great author and I loved the Maximum Ride series. I can't wait until the last book comes out.

  •  John Flanagan - Again because he is a great author and I loved the Ranger's Apprentice Series.

  • Rodney Atkins - great singer and has great songs

  • The Band Perry - They have amazing songs and are great singers.

  • Jesus - He is the most amazing person in the world. He is full of forgiveness and love.

Some Things You Don't Know About Me

Here a few things you might not know about me.

#1- Until second grade I used to hate reading. But after second grade and now? I LOVE it! Reading is one of my favorite hobbies.

#2 - I have won Youth Pinto World Reining in Talsa, Oklahoma twice now on my reiner Mr. Smoken Valentine (Smokey J).

#3 - I kind of like school and homework because they help me learn. And I like learning.

#4 - I don't watch TV much.  The only shows I watch are The Mentalist, Castle, NCIS ( the regular one NOT Los Angelos ), Hawaii 5 0, and maybe a few shows on animal planet or something like that.

#5 - I don't know who most singer, actors, etc. are. When someone tells/asks me about someone famous, I usually end up saying "Who??" Then they look at me like I'm crazy. =) I don't usually don't care about who a famous person is unless they are an author.

#6 -  I usually only listen to country music. Although I am starting to find new songs, that are not country, that I like.

#7 - I like things to follow a pattern or make a pattern somehow or make them match in someway. And I like to keep my notes very neat and organized. Although sometimes if I'm writing to fast, my notes don't look very organized or neat.

#8 - I HATE choosing favorite things, especially when it's a favorite book or song. I usually don't have a favorite. I just put something down. Although some favorite series are the Ranger's Apprentice, Maximum Ride, and the Inheritance Cycle. There are MANY more I could add to that list.

There are some things about me you might not have known.

Champis - The Sheep Herding Bunny

There is an article on Teen Tribune about the 5 year old bunny named Champis, who has become very popular. Champis herds his owners sheep like a sheepdog. They think he learned his skills after watching well trained sheepdogs work. This bunny is so cute! It's amazing how the sheep actually listen to him and not hurt him, even though he is so tiny. He is not afraid of them at all. Champis is adorable.

My Results On Spent

Today I played a game called Spent. You have to try to make it through the month. I made it through the month with $327.
Some choices I made in the game that I wasn't happy about are:
- when my car slid into another parked car and damaged the bumper I drove away
- I didn't go to my best friends wedding
- When a person in front of me dropped a $10 bill, I kept it.
- When my child decided they would go hungry for lunch if I didn't pay the lunch money per day, I risked letting them go hungry.

My job was a warehouse worker.
It was hard to decide for each decision and I was worrying slightly about what would happen next. It was a super fun game.

To play the game go to http://playspent.org/
